Dragon noodles are a popular Asian-inspired noodle dish known for their fiery heat and bold flavors. Typically made with thin wheat noodles, this dish combines ingredients that create a spicy, savory, and slightly sweet profile. The name "dragon noodles" refers to the dish’s tongue-tingling heat, reminiscent of a dragon’s fiery breath.
Dragon Noodles
Ingredients
4 oz. fettucine noodles
2 Tablespoons of butter
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 egg
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
1 handful cilantro leaves
1 handful green onion, sliced
Method
Bring a pot of water to boil. Add the fettucine noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, soy sauce, and Sriracha sauce until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the crushed red pepper flakes and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the flakes.
Push the red pepper flakes to the edge of the skillet. Crack the egg into the center and scramble until it just set.
Add the drained noodles to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles and toss everything together until the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.
Remove from heat. Toss in the cilantro leaves and sliced green onion. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Tips
Feel free to adjust the amount of Sriracha and red pepper flakes to suit your spice preference.
You can add cooked chicken, tofu, or shrimp for extra protein.
Garnish with extra cilantro or green onion for more freshness and color.
