Ham and Cheese Omelet
Ham and Cheese Omelet

A ham and cheese omelet is a breakfast dish made by mixing eggs with diced ham, shredded cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook in a hot, oiled skillet, then fold in half. Cook until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is melted.

Ham and Cheese Omelet

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded hash browns

  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil, divided

  • 2 large eggs

  • 4 ounces diced ham

  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method

  1. In a large skillet, heat 2/3 of the olive oil on medium-high heat

  2. Add hash browns to the pan when the oil is hot. Place them in a single layer, not a mound, and leave them alone to cook. Cook for about 5 or 6 minutes on each side.

  3. In a separate pan, add the remaining olive oil and place it over medium-high heat to warm.

  4. Using a spatula, flip the hash browns over to cook the other side.

  5. In a large bowl, crack and whisk the two large eggs, then pour them into the hot, oiled pan.

  6. Using a rubber spatula, gently move the omelet around the pan and bring the outside edge into the middle, forcing the runny eggs underneath the cooked eggs.

  7. Once most of the runny egg has set, ensure the eggs are moving around in the pan, flip the omelet over, and turn off the heat.

  8. Add the omelet ingredients and slide the omelet out onto a plate using the pan to fold the egg over the ham and cheese.

Add the hash browns and toast-Enjoy!
