Cucumber sandwiches with ham and spiced cream cheese have long been associated with elegant afternoon teas and light luncheons. Traditionally simple—thinly sliced cucumber on buttered white bread—this refreshing snack is reimagined in the following recipes to highlight bold flavors and hearty textures.
Cucumber Sandwiches with Ham & Spiced Cream Cheese
Ingredients
6 slices of your favorite bread
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp dill weed
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 cucumber, thinly sliced
1 radish, thinly sliced
4 oz sliced ham
Method
Mix cream cheese, red pepper flakes, dill, and Dijon mustard until smooth.
Spread the mixture over all bread slices.
Layer cucumber, radish, and ham on half the slices.
Top with the remaining bread, press gently, and cut as desired.
Tips & Variations
Try toasting bread for extra crunch.
Skip ham for a vegetarian version or add extra herbs to the cream cheese for more flavor.
