Korean Braised Tofu (Dubu Jorim)

Korean Braised Tofu (Dubu Jorim)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu

  • 1 scallion sliced & separated

  •  Tablespoons olive oil for frying

Sauce

  • 3 Tablespoons tamari sauce

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 Tablespoons of red pepper flakes

  • 3 cloves minced garlic

  • ½ Tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Method

  1. Pat the tofu dry using paper towels

  2. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes

  3. Fry the tofu in oil over medium-high heat until golden brown

  4. In a bowl, combine the tamari, water, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, the white part of the scallion, and the minced garlic

  5. Pour the mixture into the pan with the fried tofu and gently stir so the tofu is covered with the sauce

  6. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes

  7. Garnish with the sesame seeds and the green part of the scallion

Enjoy with rice or noodles
