Pan-fried walleye is a delicious dish made from seasoned and breaded freshwater fish fillets, fried until golden brown. It can be served as a main course or a sandwich and paired with roasted vegetables or salad.
Pan-Fried Walleye
Ingredients:
1 skinned walleye fillet
1 cup of all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon of butter
Method
Create a dredging station.
Mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a shallow pan.
Crack the eggs and whip them to make an egg wash, and add to a shallow pan
Add the panko breadcrumbs to a small shallow pan.
Rinse the walleye fillets in cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
Dredge each fillet in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Place the item into the egg wash and cover it completely.
Pull the walleye filets from the egg wash, add them to the panko breadcrumbs, and cover the fish entirely. Press the crumbs gently into the flesh of the fish.
Heat the vegetable oil and butter over medium heat in a large skillet until the butter is melted.
Add the fillets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the fillets from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Serve the pan-fried walleye hot, accompanied by your favorite side dish. Enjoy!.
