Philly Cheese Casserole

Philly Cheese Casserole is a hearty and flavorful baked dish inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich. This comforting casserole combines all the key elements of the beloved sandwich—tender slices of beef, sautéed onions and bell peppers, and plenty of melted cheese—layered or mixed together and baked until bubbly and golden.
Philly Cheese Casserole.
Ingredients
2 onions, julienned
6 peppers, julienned
2 lbs. flank or skirt steak, sliced thinly against the grain
2 cloves garlic, minced
Olive oil
3 cups of shredded Provolone cheese
2 cups of Worcestershire sauce
2 Tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
2 Tablespoons of ketchup
8 slices of bread, cut into cubes and toasted
Method
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Marinated the sliced beef in a Ziplock bag in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and vinegar
Sauté sliced onions, peppers, and garlic in olive oil until soft.
Remove the pepper mixture from the pan and cook the beef until medium rare
Cut and toast the bread, then mix the toasted bread with the veggies, steak, and ½ the cheese in a bowl and set into a greased casserole dish.
Add the remaining cheese on top
Bake with a cover for 20 min, uncover and bake 10 min more until cheese bubbles.
Tips
Add mushrooms or try other cheeses for variety.
