Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened, plain)

  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (unsalted, xylitol-free)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 3 cups of whole wheat flour

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and peanut butter. Mix until smooth and well blended.

  3. Add the eggs to the bowl. Whisk until fully incorporated.

  4. Gradually add the whole wheat flour, mixing with a spoon or spatula at first, then kneading with your hands as the dough becomes thick and firm. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time.

  5. Lightly flour a clean surface, then roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.

  6. Use a cookie cutter (bone-shaped, if you have one) to cut out treats. Gather any scraps, re-roll, and cut again until all the dough is used.

  7. Arrange the treats on the prepared baking sheet. They can be placed close together, as they won’t spread much during baking.

  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the treats are golden and firm to the touch.

  9. Let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your dog.

Storage

  • Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

  • For longer freshness, refrigerate for up to three weeks or freeze for up to three months.

  • Note: Always make sure your peanut butter does not contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Introduce new treats gradually and consult your veterinarian to see if your pet has any allergies or special dietary needs.

  • Your pup is sure to love these wholesome, homemade biscuits!
