Creamy hamburger rice soup is a warm and filling dish that combines ground beef, rice, and vegetables in a creamy broth. It has a rich, savory flavor that complements the creaminess of the broth nicely.
Creamy Hamburger Rice Soup
Ingredients
3 carrots
1 onion
3 ribs of celery
¼ pound butter
1-pound ground beef
2 Tbl. Steak & Chop Seasoning
¼ cup flour
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 quarts of water
2 Tablespoons beef base
2 cups cooked rice
2 cups cream or 3 cups milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Medium dice the onion, celery, and carrots and set aside in your mise
Over medium heat, in a stock pot or Dutch oven, add the butter and the ground beef, and cook until the butter begins to melt
Add the mirepoix of vegetables, salt, pepper, and the steak and chop seasoning to the ground beef and cook with the lid on for about 10 minutes
Once the meat has completely cooked, add the flour to the meat and fat, and stir well to make a roux
Add the beef base to the water and make a broth. Add the broth to the pan and stir well until the soup begins to thicken
Add the Worcestershire sauce, more salt, and pepper, and the rice
Stir well and simmer for about 10 minutes
